Just a reminder to all for profit and not for profit businesses regarding compliance for filing 2014 Form 1099. Since the end of the calendar year is fast approaching, this is a good time for your accounting staff to make sure your accounts payable files are up to date with appropriate Form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number). The Form W-9 is not a form to be filed with the Internal Revenue Service, but requests the appropriate information from your vendors to ascertain if filing a Form 1099 is appropriate and, if it is, the W-9 Form can request pertinent information to assist in accurately preparing the Form 1099.
